Guwahati: Assam's school enrollment is down about 6% this year, with 70,95,759 students registering.
Assam's school enrollment has dropped by 5.95 per cent this year, with 70,95,759 pupils enrolling this year compared to 75,44,956 for 2022-23, according to Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on Monday.
According to the Student Database Management Information System (SDMIS), there were 4,49,197 fewer pupils than the previous year, he told reporters here.
According to the minister, officials have been ordered to check and examine the causes for the drop in enrollment.
Some of the reasons mentioned by district officials include kids enrolling in other private schools that are not registered on the UDISE portal, clearing duplicate enrolment from the database, and migration, according to Pegu.
