NEET UG 2023: Malaysia, ranked as the 45th most populous country, is gradually emerging as a popular destination for Indian medical students. With a similar culture and a growing Indian diaspora, the country welcomed around 3,331 Indian students last year.
Among them, six students appeared for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) in 2021, and four candidates successfully cleared the screening test.

Eligibility Criteria:
Interested candidates must meet the following requirements:
Successful completion of the 12th grade with a minimum of 50 percent in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Clearing of the NEET exam.
Physics, Chemistry, and Biology should be the main subjects in the 12th grade.
Proficiency in the English language.
Course Structure:
MBBS in Malaysia is a six-year program, which includes a one-year compulsory internship. The curriculum focuses on providing students with theoretical and practical knowledge during five years of academic study. However, it is advised to check the course structure from college to college, as the program duration may vary.
However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Medical Commission (NMC) in India mandated in 2022 that foreign medical graduates (FMGs) who completed their fourth and fifth years online must complete a two-year internship instead of one after their MBBS. In March, the Supreme Court requested the Central Government to help resolve the conflict for FMGs.
Admission Process:
The admission process involves the following steps:
Step 1: Select your desired college and fill out the application form.
Step 2: Upload the required documents.
Step 3: Save the offer letter for future reference.
Step 4: Pay the necessary fees upon receiving the offer letter.
Step 5: Apply for a study visa in Malaysia.
Required Documents:
Candidates need to provide the following documents:
- A copy of the passport.
- Copies of mark sheets and passing certificates for classes 10 and 12.
- Migration certificate.
- Copy of the offer letter.
- Any other documents specified by the foreign ministry of the Government of Malaysia.
Tuition Fees:
The tuition fees for MBBS programs in Malaysia range from approximately Rs 9 lakh to Rs 25 lakh per year. The cost of living in Malaysia is relatively similar to India, ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 18,000 per month. The cost may vary based on accommodation, such as staying in university/college dormitories and room-sharing arrangements.
Medium of Instruction:
Although the official language of Malaysia is Malay, the medium of instruction for MBBS in Malaysia is English, which is advantageous for Indian students.
